This is 1/4" reproduction silver lace made of real sterling. During the 18th century each officer went to his own tailor for clothing. Therefore there was no regulation officer's lace. The same silver lace on an officer's coat could be found on civilian clothing. For example in The Proceedings of the Old Bailey in 1770 there was a trial where the butler testified that "I was told my master had lost a pea-green suit of clothes with silver lace".
