This pincushion is hand knit on 0000 needles with a three masted ship in the colors of the Union Jack or Old Glory. In The Proceedings of the Old Bailey in a theft trial in 1784 London it was recorded, “SIMON ALLEN was indicted for feloniously stealing . . . one pincushion, value one halfpeny, one needle book, value one halfpenny”.
