1/4″ Black Cotton Tape, 10 Yard Ball
$3.00
Made in the USA
Black cotton tape isn’t used in historic garments pre 1830s. This product is provided because people of many time periods buy these products & possibly garments later than c. 1830s used black cotton tape. This 1/4″ cotton tape works very well for inserting in button shanks for sewing on buttons with shanks. The directions for this method of attaching buttons are found in The Workman’s Guide to Tailoring Stitches. Directions for securely sewing cotton tape on to a garment are found in The Lady’s Guide to Plain Sewing Book II. In 1783 in The Proceedings of the Old Bailey, London “WILLIAM HATCHMAN was indicted for feloniously stealing . . . 24 yards of cotton tape, value 4 s.”
