3/8” Linen Tape
$1.40
This linen tape differs from the Dutch linen tape in that it has a looser weave but also looks like it just came off a pre roof tape loom. Linen tape, 3/8” wide was used for tying pockets, petticoats & aprons & may also be used for binding pockets & stays. Directions for securely sewing linen tape on to a garment are found in The Lady’s Guide to Plain Sewing Book II. In 1757 in The Proceedings of the Old Bailey, London “John Mungotroid was indicted for stealing . . . 3038 yards of linen tape, 175 yards of quality binding.”
