Death head buttons were used on men’s coats & waistcoats throughout the 18th & into the early 19th century. The astral variation has 6 instead of the traditional 4 points & appear to be more common in the 1780s & later. They were used on everyday business attire not for best dress. These death head buttons are a good size for a waistcoat & hand made on a wood blank of silk thread.
