Made in the USA
This pattern is based on an extant gown in the Fashion Archives and Museum of Shippensburg University with a provenance from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Originally this dress was fashionable to the 1790s but the waist was raised further and the skirt altered to reflect the tastes of the 1810s. The gown has a drawstring front bodice with a fitted back. A full spiral book is included along with the pattern. In The Providence Gazette of 1800, “a Woman, who has been several Years delirious, escaped from her Father’s House . . . She had on . . . a short Calico loose Gown”.
