100% Linen, ~7 oz, 58" Wide
This is a 1 yard 11" long remnant with a very uneven cut edge that has additional useful linen. This sturdy linen would make a good wallet or work apron.
This fabric is dyed to a light beige color and is appropriate for all economic levels in the 18th century. This linen can also be used to make men's trousers, waistcoats, hat linings, and jackets, and women's gowns, jackets, petticoats, pockets, and aprons. Cited in personal communication with Mike Barbieri The Connecticut Gazette of 1776 "Ran away . . . an indented Indian Man Servant . . . had on when he ran-away a streaked linen Jacket with white linen Cuffs and Cape to it". Hand sewing this fabric would be best done in 35/2 off white linen thread.
