This width works well for the bottom binding of wool petticoats or the binding on Cloaks but there are many other uses. In 1775, in The New England Chronicle, or Essex Gazette, "Left in a Barn on this Side Charlestown, a Bed, two Bolsters and Pillows, in a blue Curtain, trimmed with yellow" from personal communication with Mike Barbieri. Canary yellow 50/3 and 80/3 linen thread is a shade lighter than this tape but will blend well when hand sewing.
